Drew MacDonald on Beagle's first gig in LA, july 2001 (collected from
the Internet):
"I didn't get turned on to Beagle until after they broke up, so I
certainly never expected to hear "The Things That We Say," "Suit of Armour"
and "Everything Will Work Out In The End" performed live in my lifetime.
I was severely jazzed to learn that Bash had landed Magnus & Co. for this
year's festival, and was among the bummed-out audience members when it
looked like Beagle weren't going to make it tonight after all (delayed
plane or whatever). We were making do with a terrific "What's So Funny
About Peace, Love & Understanding" performed by the pickup supergroup
of Wendie & The Chewy Masticating Andersons when the Beagle boys rushed
in and set up. For a trio of jet-lagged Swedes who'd reportedly been awake
for 24 hours, they sounded absolutely wonderful. I'd never known what
the band members looked like, so once I got used to what resembled Steven
Soderbergh jamming with Chris Von Sneidern (couldn't see the drummer from
where I was standing) I got to experience the aforementioned songs. The
guys were giddy with excitement and fatigue, the arrangements were understandably
a bit loose, but Everyting Worked Out In The End. Such joy! Can't wait
for their "real" set next week."

Beaglesounds.com´s interview with Magnus Börjeson
Malmö, January 30, 2002
What are you up to at the moment?
Me and David Birde (Brainpool) are writing together with the Norwegian
artist Vibeke Saugestad. We did some gigs with her in Norway last year
and had so much fun that we decided to try and write something together.
It turned out really well so now we aim for a whole album.
Is this already recorded?
A couple of tracks are recorded and mixed. These attracted some "outside"
attention so we've ended up writing stuff for others as well, which is
what we are doing now.
What about the new Beagle-album?
I´m working on that as well, but it will take longer to finish
than I expected.
Who are you working with?
Christoffer Lundquist also from Brainpool is helping me to produce
the new
Beagle-record. I am recording in both his studio in the countryside and
in my own, "Free Electric Enterprises". One song, "Well
it's only pain" was recently released on an American compilation.
Why did you get your own studio?
So that I can record whenever I feel like it. I don't have to wait
for other bands to get finished before I can start recording.
You performed in Los Angeles last year.
There is a powerpop-crowd in LA. For a couple of years I've
been getting emails from different people who would like me to come and
play in the USA. I guess they got tired of waiting, because suddenly they
called and said they wanted me at a popfestival, The International
Pop Overthrow in LA.
Your records have been popular over there for a
long time there,
did you
know that yourself?
Not really. The records seems to have achieved some kind of cult-status.
I only
understood this a couple of months ago.
